Canteen Supervisor - APS Unipod Stirling Center
APS Unipod Global is seeking a professional, organized, and service-oriented Canteen Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the dining hall and food service areas at APS Unipod Stirling Center. The Canteen Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the dining facility, supervising food service staff, maintaining exceptional standards of hygiene and customer service, coordinating meal service, and ensuring residents receive a pleasant dining experience every day.
Working closely with the Head Chef, the Canteen Supervisor will coordinate meal schedules, monitor food quality during service, manage dining hall operations, supervise inventory within the dining area, and ensure compliance with UK food safety regulations. The successful candidate should possess excellent leadership skills, strong customer service abilities, and a passion for delivering outstanding hospitality to an international student community.

Food Service Management
Coordinate with the Head Chef to ensure timely service of all meals.
Supervise food distribution and serving stations.
Ensure meals are presented attractively and served at the correct temperature.
Monitor food quality and portion consistency during service.
Ensure special dietary meals are correctly served.
Minimise delays and ensure smooth service throughout meal periods.
Monitor buffet presentation where applicable.
Team Leader and Staff Management
Supervise dining hall attendants, food service assistants, and support staff.
Allocate daily duties and work schedules.
Conduct pre-service team briefings.
Train staff in customer service, hygiene, and operational procedures.
Monitor staff performance and productivity.
Foster teamwork, professionalism, and a customer-focused culture.
Assist with staff performance evaluations and development.
Customer Service and Resident Experience
Welcome students and guests with professionalism and courtesy.
Ensure every resident enjoys a positive dining experience.
Respond promptly to dining-related enquiries and concerns.
Handle complaints and resolve service issues efficiently.
Collect resident feedback regarding food quality and dining services.
Work with the Head Chef and Community Manager to introduce improvements based on feedback.
Promote a friendly and inclusive dining environment for students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities
Dining Hall Operations
Supervise the day-to-day operations of the APS Unipod dining facility.
Ensure efficient and timely meal service during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events.
Coordinate the opening and closing of the dining hall.
Ensure all dining areas remain clean, organised, and welcoming.
Monitor seating arrangements and dining hall capacity.
Ensure adequate staffing during peak meal periods.
Maintain a pleasant dining atmosphere for residents and guests.
Hygiene, Health and Safety
Ensure strict compliance with UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) regulations.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the dining facility.
Ensure all staff follow food hygiene and personal hygiene standards.
Monitor sanitisation of dining tables, service counters, utensils, and equipment.
Ensure compliance with HACCP food safety procedures.
Conduct routine hygiene inspections.
Ensure safe handling of food and service equipment.
Maintain compliance with workplace health and safety regulations.
Inventory and Equipment Management
Monitor dining hall supplies, crockery, cutlery, and service equipment.
Report shortages and damaged items.
Assist in stock control and inventory management.
Ensure proper storage of dining equipment and supplies.
Support procurement planning for dining hall consumables.
Conduct regular inventory checks and maintain records.
Administrative Responsibilities
Prepare daily dining operation reports.
Maintain attendance records for food service staff.
Record meal counts and service statistics.
Monitor departmental operational supplies.
Ensure proper documentation of food safety and hygiene inspections.
Assist in developing standard operating procedures for dining services.
Essential Qualifications
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Food & Beverage Management, Catering Management, or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of experience in food service, hospitality, catering, or restaurant operations, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
Strong knowledge of food service operations and customer service.
Excellent leadership and organisational skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Good computer literacy and basic administrative skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in student accommodation, hotels, universities, institutional catering, or hospitality operations.
Food Safety Level 2 or Level 3 Certification.
HACCP training.
First Aid certification is desirable.
