APS Unipod Global is seeking compassionate, energetic, patient, and responsible Daycare Staff (Childcare Assistants) to join the APS Unipod Daycare Centre. Working under the supervision of the Daycare Centre Manager, the Daycare Staff will assist in delivering high-quality childcare services, ensuring the safety, wellbeing, education, and development of every child attending the Centre.

The successful candidate will help create a warm, inclusive, and stimulating environment where children can learn, play, interact, and develop with confidence while maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding, hygiene, and child welfare.

Learning and Development
  • Assist in planning and delivering age-appropriate activities that encourage early childhood learning, cognitive development, language and communication skills, creativity and imagination, fine and gross motor skills, music and movement, storytelling, arts and crafts, sensory play, outdoor learning, social interaction, and problem-solving skills.

  • Support children in developing confidence, independence, curiosity, and creativity through structured and free-play activities.

Daily Childcare Activities
  • Arrival and departure routines.

  • Meal and snack times.

  • Nap and rest periods.

  • Toileting and personal hygiene.

  • Hand washing routines.

  • Dressing and changing clothes.

  • Indoor and outdoor play.

  • Educational games.

  • Reading sessions.

  • Group learning activities.

  • Celebrating birthdays and cultural events.

Health, Safety and Safeguarding
  • Ensuring children remain supervised at all times.

  • Following safeguarding and child protection policies.

  • Identifying and reporting any concerns regarding a child's welfare.

  • Administering first aid where trained and appropriate.

  • Reporting accidents and incidents immediately.

  • Maintaining accurate incident records.

  • Ensuring all emergency procedures are followed.

Key Responsibilities
Chief Supervision and Care
  • Supervise children throughout the day to ensure their safety and wellbeing.

  • Create a warm, welcoming, and caring atmosphere.

  • Assist children with daily routines and activities.

  • Encourage positive behaviour and good social interaction.

  • Provide emotional support and reassurance when needed.

  • Build trusting relationships with both children and parents.

Hygiene and Cleanliness
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic childcare environment.

  • Clean toys, learning materials, and activity equipment.

  • Disinfect high-contact surfaces regularly.

  • Support housekeeping routines within the daycare.

  • Promote healthy hygiene practices among children.

  • Ensure changing areas and washrooms remain sanitary.

Parent Communication
  • Greeting families warmly.

  • Providing daily updates regarding children's wellbeing.

  • Reporting achievements and developmental progress.

  • Communicating any concerns promptly.

  • Supporting parents during drop-off and collection.

  • Maintaining confidentiality at all times.

Behavior Management
  • Encourage kindness and respect.

  • Reinforce positive behavior.

  • Help children resolve minor conflicts peacefully.

  • Promote inclusion and cooperation.

  • Support children's emotional wellbeing.

  • Maintain patience and professionalism at all times.

Nutrition and Meal Support
  • Serving meals and snacks safely.

  • Monitoring dietary requirements and allergies.

  • Encouraging healthy eating habits.

  • Assisting younger children during feeding.

  • Promoting independence where age appropriate.

Emergency Response
  • Assist with evacuation procedures.

  • Support children during emergency situations.

  • Contact emergency services when instructed.

  • Administer first aid where qualified.

  • Reassure children and maintain calm.

Child Safeguarding Responsibilities
  • Place children's safety above all other priorities.

  • Follow UK safeguarding legislation and childcare regulations.

  • Report safeguarding concerns immediately.

  • Maintain professional boundaries.

  • Respect confidentiality.

  • Treat every child equally, fairly, and with dignity.

  • Promote inclusion and diversity

Essential Qualifications
  • Diploma, NVQ, SVQ, or recognised qualification in Childcare, Early Years Education, or Early Childhood Development (or willingness to obtain).

  • Genuine passion for working with children.

  • Good spoken and written English.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Caring, patient, and positive personality.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in a nursery, daycare, preschool, kindergarten, school, or childcare centre.

  • Paediatric First Aid certification.

  • Child Protection & Safeguarding training.

  • Food Hygiene Certificate.

  • Knowledge of the Scottish early years framework.

  • Experience supporting multicultural families.
