In House Plumber - APS Unipod Stirling Center
APS Unipod Global is seeking a qualified, experienced, and dependable Plumber to join the Engineering & Maintenance Department at APS Unipod Stirling Center. The Plumber will be responsible for the installation, inspection, repair, maintenance, and servicing of all plumbing and water-related systems across the Centre. The successful candidate will ensure uninterrupted water supply, efficient drainage systems, reliable sanitation facilities, and timely response to maintenance requests from residents and staff.
The role requires a proactive professional capable of carrying out preventive maintenance, responding to emergency plumbing issues, and maintaining compliance with all relevant UK plumbing, water safety, and building regulations.

Water Supply and Distribution Systems
Hot and cold water supply systems.
Water storage tanks.
Water pressure systems.
Booster pumps.
Pipework throughout the Centre.
Water filtration equipment where applicable.
Isolation valves and distribution systems.
Ensure continuous and safe water supply for residents and operational departments.
Drainage and Sanitation
Maintain all drainage and wastewater systems.
Clear blocked drains, sinks, toilets, and waste pipes.
Inspect drainage systems for leaks or damage.
Ensure efficient wastewater disposal.
Coordinate specialised drainage services where necessary.
Prevent recurring drainage issues through scheduled maintenance.
Bathroom and Kitchen Maintenance
Maintain plumbing systems within student accommodation bathrooms, shared kitchens, commercial kitchen, laundry facility, daycare center, staff facilities, common washrooms, and admin facilities.
Repairing taps and mixers.
Replacing sanitary fixtures.
Servicing toilets and flushing systems.
Maintaining shower systems.
Ensuring proper water pressure and drainage.
Key Responsibilities
Plumbing Systems and Maintenance
Inspect, maintain, and repair all plumbing systems throughout APS Unipod Stirling Center.
Ensure uninterrupted water supply to all accommodation units and operational facilities.
Repair leaking pipes, taps, valves, toilets, sinks, showers, and drainage systems.
Install new plumbing fixtures and fittings when required.
Conduct routine inspections to identify potential plumbing issues before they escalate.
Ensure all plumbing work complies with UK building regulations and industry standards.
Heating and Hot Water System
Inspect hot water systems.
Monitor water heaters and associated plumbing.
Assist with maintenance of central heating pipework.
Identify leaks or pressure issues.
Report faults requiring specialist intervention.
Preventive Maintenance
Participate in the Centre's preventive maintenance programme.
Conduct scheduled inspections of plumbing infrastructure.
Replace worn or ageing components before failure.
Maintain maintenance schedules and service records.
Recommend upgrades to improve efficiency and reliability.
Health, Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
Follow all UK Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices.
Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Ensure safe handling of plumbing tools and equipment.
Maintain a clean and organised work area.
Dispose of waste materials responsibly.
Promote water conservation and environmentally sustainable practices.
Emergency Repairs
Respond promptly to plumbing emergencies, including burst pipes, major leaks, blocked drainage systems, and water supply interruptions.
Minimise disruption to residents and Centre operations.
Coordinate with the Maintenance Supervisor during emergency situations.
Assist in restoring services as quickly as possible.
Water Safety and Compliance
Support compliance with UK water hygiene regulations and Legionella control procedures.
Assist with routine flushing of infrequently used outlets.
Report water quality concerns immediately.
Maintain plumbing systems in accordance with health and safety requirements.
Participate in statutory inspections and audits.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain accurate maintenance records.
Record completed repairs and inspections.
Prepare daily and weekly maintenance reports.
Document emergency repair work.
Report recurring issues and recommend long-term solutions.
Assist with budgeting for plumbing repairs and replacements.
Essential Qualifications
NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Plumbing and Domestic Heating, City & Guilds qualification, or an equivalent recognised plumbing qualification.
Minimum 2 years of experience in residential, commercial, hospitality, or institutional plumbing.
Strong knowledge of plumbing installations, drainage systems, and water supply networks.
Ability to interpret plumbing drawings and technical specifications.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in student accommodation, hotels, universities, healthcare facilities, or commercial buildings.
Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS) knowledge.
Legionella Awareness Training.
Unvented Hot Water Systems qualification.
First Aid certification.
Basic knowledge of heating systems and building services.
