APS Unipod Global is seeking hardworking, enthusiastic, and dependable Kitchen Helpers to support the daily operations of the kitchens, student self-service eatery, and staff mess canteen at APS Unipod Stirling Center. Kitchen Helpers play a vital role in ensuring efficient kitchen operations by assisting chefs with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, organising kitchen supplies, supporting food service, and ensuring compliance with food hygiene standards. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced hospitality environment and are committed to delivering excellent service to a multicultural community.

Students Self Service Canteen Operation
Assisting in food counter preparation before service.
Replenishing food items throughout meal service.
Maintaining buffet presentation and cleanliness.
Monitoring serving stations.
Assisting students with basic enquiries regarding menu items.
Ensuring utensils, trays, plates, and cutlery remain available.
Supporting crowd management during busy meal periods.
Maintaining cleanliness of dining counters and food display areas.
Staff Mess Canteen Operation
Preparing the dining area before meal service.
Assisting in serving meals to employees.
Replenishing food and beverages.
Cleaning dining tables promptly.
Maintaining hygiene standards throughout service.
Assisting with meal preparation for staff functions and meetings.
Kitchen Cleaning and Hygiene
Washing utensils, cookware, trays, and kitchen equipment.
Cleaning workstations before and after food preparation.
Sanitising chopping boards, preparation tables, and sinks.
Sweeping and mopping kitchen floors.
Cleaning storage areas.
Emptying waste bins regularly.
Ensuring proper waste segregation and recycling.
Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment throughout each shift.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation Support
Washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables and fruits.
Preparing salads and cold dishes.
Portioning ingredients according to recipes.
Preparing garnishes and accompaniments.
Organising ingredients before meal service.
Preparing basic food items under supervision.
Assisting in dessert preparation.
Preparing sandwiches, wraps, and snack items.
Packing takeaway meals where required.
Ensure all ingredients are handled safely and hygienically.
Dishwashing
Collecting used utensils from dining areas.
Operating commercial dishwashing equipment.
Hand-washing delicate utensils when required.
Drying and storing kitchen equipment correctly.
Inspecting utensils for cleanliness before reuse.
Food Storage and Inventory
Receiving food deliveries.
Checking delivery quantities against purchase orders.
Inspecting products for quality and freshness.
Labelling food items correctly.
Rotating stock using FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
Organising refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage areas.
Reporting shortages or damaged goods to supervisors.
Equipment Care
Clean and maintain kitchen equipment including food preparation machines, mixers, ovens, refrigerators, freezers, steamers, microwaves, coffee machines, service counters, commercial dishwasher.
Report faults immediately to supervisors.
Catering Support
Provide assistance during community events, student orientation programs, cultural celebrations, conferences, training sessions, university events and special dining functions.
Support food preparation, service, setup and post event cleaning.
Customer Service
Interact politely with students and staff.
Assist diners when requested.
Promote a welcoming dining environment.
Demonstrate professionalism and courtesy at all times.
Essential Qualifications
Secondary school education or equivalent.
Basic understanding of food preparation and kitchen operations.
Good spoken English.
Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in restaurants, hotels, cafeterias, catering services, or institutional kitchens.
Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Basic knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment.
Experience working in multicultural environments.
