Laundry Assistants - APS Unipod Stirling Center

APS Unipod Global is seeking hardworking, detail-oriented, and customer-focused Laundry Assistants (Laundry Operators) to join the Laundry & Linen Services Department at APS Unipod Stirling Center. The Laundry Assistant will be responsible for the complete processing of laundry, including collection, sorting, washing, drying, ironing, folding, packaging, and distribution of laundry items. The role supports hostel operations by maintaining institutional linen while also delivering high-quality laundry services to students, employees, and external customers.

The successful candidate will ensure every garment and linen item is handled with care, processed efficiently, and returned in excellent condition while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, customer service, and operational excellence.

Center Linen Management
  • Support the daily operation of APS Unipod Stirling Center by laundering bed sheets, pillowcases, blankets, mattress protectors, towels, kitchen linen, dining linen, daycare linen, curtains, cleaning cloths and event linen.

  • Washing and disinfecting all institutional linen.

  • Folding and organising clean linen.

  • Preparing linen for redistribution.

  • Maintaining sufficient stock levels for operational departments.

  • Identifying damaged linen for repair or replacement.

Staff Laundry Services
  • Processing staff uniforms.

  • Washing protective clothing.

  • Maintaining departmental linen.

  • Ensuring uniforms are returned clean, pressed, and ready for use.

  • Supporting departments during periods of high operational demand.

Commercial Laundry Services

The APS Unipod Laundry Facility also serves external customers, particularly students and residents within Stirling.

  • Receiving laundry from external customers.

  • Registering customer details and service requirements.

  • Processing wash-only, wash-and-fold, ironing, and premium laundry services.

  • Preparing invoices and coordinating payment with the Accounts Department where applicable.

  • Ensuring timely completion and collection of customer laundry.

  • Delivering excellent customer service to encourage repeat business.

  • Promoting APS Unipod's commercial laundry services through professional interactions.

Student Laundry Services
  • Receiving laundry from students.

  • Sorting garments according to colour, fabric type, and washing requirements.

  • Labelling and tracking customer laundry accurately.

  • Operating commercial washing and drying equipment.

  • Ironing garments where required.

  • Folding and packaging laundry neatly.

  • Returning completed laundry within established turnaround times.

  • Handling delicate garments according to care instructions.

  • Maintaining confidentiality and proper care of personal belongings.

Quality Control
  • Inspecting garments before washing.

  • Checking for stains and damages.

  • Verifying cleanliness before delivery.

  • Ensuring garments are properly ironed and folded.

  • Preventing loss or mix-up of customer items.

  • Maintaining excellent presentation of finished laundry.

Documentation
  • Maintain accurate records of laundry received, laundry delivered, customer orders, linen inventory, daily production volumes, equipment usage, damaged items and customer feedback.

Inventory and Supplies
  • Monitoring detergents and cleaning supplies.

  • Maintaining stock of packaging materials.

  • Organizing laundry storage areas.

  • Reporting shortages.

  • Assisting with stock counts.

Hygiene and Safety
  • Keeping work areas clean and organised.

  • Sanitising laundry equipment regularly.

  • Wearing appropriate PPE.

  • Following safe chemical handling procedures.

  • Complying with COSHH regulations.

  • Preventing cross-contamination.

  • Supporting infection control procedures.

Waste Management
  • Dispose of damaged materials appropriately.

  • Separate recyclable packaging.

  • Minimize water and detergent wastage.

  • Support environmentally sustainable laundry practices.

Essential Qualifications
  • Secondary school education or equivalent.

  • Previous experience in laundry, housekeeping, hospitality, or commercial cleaning is desirable but not mandatory.

  • Good communication skills in English.

  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Reliable, punctual, and hardworking.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in hotels, hospitals, commercial laundries, universities, or student accommodation.

  • Knowledge of fabric care and garment handling.

  • Experience operating industrial laundry equipment.

  • Customer service experience.

  • Manual handling training.
