Laundry Supervisor - APS Unipod Stirling Center

APS Unipod Global is seeking an organized, service-oriented, and detail-focused Laundry Supervisor to oversee the complete operations of the APS Unipod Stirling Center Laundry Facility. The Laundry Supervisor will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the laundry department, ensuring efficient processing of both student laundry services and institutional laundry requirements. The role includes supervising laundry assistants, maintaining laundry equipment, ensuring quality standards, managing laundry schedules, monitoring inventory of linens and cleaning supplies, and delivering excellent customer service to residents.

The successful candidate will ensure that the laundry facility operates efficiently, hygienically, and in compliance with health and safety standards while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.

Student Laundry Services
  • Receive, sort, label, and track student laundry.

  • Ensure garments are handled carefully according to fabric care instructions.

  • Maintain accurate records of laundry received and returned.

  • Ensure timely completion of washing, drying, ironing, and folding.

  • Coordinate laundry collection and distribution schedules.

  • Address student enquiries and service requests professionally.

  • Resolve laundry-related concerns and complaints promptly.

APS Unipod's In-house service linens
  • The Laundry Supervisor will oversee the laundering and maintenance of all Centre-owned textiles, including bed sheets, pillowcases, blankets, towels, kitchen linen, dining linen, staff uniforms, curtains, mattress protectors, cleaning clothes and event linen etc.

  • Maintain linen circulation schedules.

  • Ensure adequate stock of clean linen at all times.

  • Monitor linen quality and replacement requirements.

  • Minimize linen loss and damage.

  • Coordinate linen distribution to various departments.

Equipment Management
  • Operate and supervise industrial washing machines, dryers, ironing equipment, and folding machines.

  • Conduct routine inspections of laundry equipment.

  • Report equipment faults to the Maintenance Supervisor.

  • Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules.

  • Ensure proper use of machinery to maximise operational lifespan.

  • Maintain equipment maintenance records.

Key Responsibilities
Laundry Operations
  • Supervise the daily operations of the APS Unipod Laundry Facility.

  • Ensure efficient processing of resident laundry, Centre-owned linen, towels, bedding, curtains, uniforms, and other institutional laundry items.

  • Develop daily and weekly laundry processing schedules.

  • Monitor turnaround times to ensure timely delivery of all laundry services.

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation within the laundry facility.

  • Ensure laundry equipment is operated safely and efficiently.

  • Coordinate workload during peak occupancy periods.

Team Leadership and Supervision
  • Supervise Laundry Assistants and support staff.

  • Allocate daily work assignments.

  • Prepare staff duty rosters.

  • Train employees in laundry procedures and garment care.

  • Monitor productivity and service quality.

  • Conduct performance evaluations.

  • Promote teamwork, efficiency, and professionalism.

Quality Control
  • Inspect laundry items before and after processing.

  • Ensure garments and linen are cleaned to the highest standards.

  • Monitor stain removal procedures.

  • Ensure proper ironing, folding, and packaging.

  • Prevent damage to garments and fabrics.

  • Continuously improve laundry quality standards.

Sustainability & Environmental Management
  • Promote environmentally responsible laundry practices.

  • Monitor water and energy consumption.

  • Minimize detergent waste.

  • Encourage efficient use of laundry resources.

  • Support APS Unipod's sustainability initiatives.

Inventory and Procurement
  • Monitor inventory of detergents, cleaning chemicals, laundry bags, packaging materials, and other consumables.

  • Prepare purchase requisitions for laundry supplies.

  • Monitor linen inventory.

  • Conduct regular stock counts.

  • Assist in supplier evaluation.

  • Recommend cost-effective procurement solutions.

  • Minimize wastage of laundry supplies.

Customer Service
  • Provide professional and courteous service to resident students.

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding personal laundry.

  • Resolve service issues promptly and professionally.

  • Maintain accurate records of resident laundry transactions.

  • Gather resident feedback to improve services.

Health, Safety and Hygiene
  • Ensure compliance with UK health and safety regulations.

  • Maintain exceptional hygiene standards within the laundry facility.

  • Ensure proper storage and handling of detergents and chemicals in accordance with COSHH regulations.

  • Ensure staff use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Maintain a safe and hazard-free working environment.

  • Conduct regular cleaning of laundry equipment and work areas.

Administrative Responsibilities
  • Maintain laundry service records.

  • Prepare daily and monthly operational reports.

  • Monitor departmental performance indicators.

  • Maintain equipment maintenance logs.

  • Track laundry volumes and turnaround times.

  • Prepare inventory and procurement reports.

  • Support budget monitoring for the laundry department.

Essential Qualifications
  • Diploma or Certificate in Hospitality Management, Laundry Operations, Housekeeping, Facilities Management, or a related field.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial laundry, hotel laundry, institutional laundry, or housekeeping operations, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role.

  • Experience operating industrial laundry equipment.

  • Strong organisational and leadership skills.

  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.

  • Good understanding of garment care and fabric handling.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in student accommodation, hotels, hospitals, or institutional facilities.

  • Knowledge of COSHH regulations.

  • Health & Safety certification.

  • First Aid certification.

  • Experience using digital laundry management systems.
