Operations Manager - APS Unipod Stirling Center

APS Unipod Global is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of APS Unipod Stirling Center while leading the Centre's Human Resources and administrative functions. Working closely with the General Manager, the Operations Manager will ensure operational excellence across all departments, coordinate service delivery, supervise departmental teams, implement corporate policies, and foster a positive workplace culture. The role requires a proactive leader capable of managing people, processes, facilities, and resident services while ensuring the Centre consistently delivers an exceptional living experience for students.

The Operations Manager will also serve as the Centre's HR lead, overseeing recruitment, employee relations, onboarding, performance management, staff welfare, and compliance with UK employment regulations.

Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
  • Oversee the complete day-to-day operations of APS Unipod Stirling Center.

  • Ensure smooth functioning of all operational departments.

  • Maintain exceptional service standards across the property.

  • Coordinate daily operational activities and departmental workflows.

  • Develop operational procedures to improve efficiency and service quality.

  • Monitor operational performance through measurable KPIs.

  • Support the General Manager in executing strategic initiatives and corporate directives.

  • Prepare operational reports and performance summaries for senior management.

  • Ensure high levels of resident satisfaction through proactive service management.

  • Coordinate emergency response procedures and business continuity planning.

Human Resource Management
  • Coordinate recruitment and selection activities.

  • Conduct employee onboarding and orientation programs.

  • Maintain employee personnel records and HR documentation.

  • Administer attendance, leave, and shift scheduling.

  • Coordinate payroll inputs with the Finance Department.

  • Ensure compliance with UK employment legislation.

  • Implement employee policies and workplace procedures.

  • Support performance appraisal and staff development programs.

  • Coordinate disciplinary procedures in consultation with the General Manager.

  • Promote employee engagement and workplace wellbeing.

  • Handle employee grievances confidentially and professionally.

  • Organise staff training and professional development initiatives.

  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing workplace culture.

Team Leadership
  • Lead and supervise operational teams across all departments.

  • Provide coaching and mentorship to departmental supervisors.

  • Conduct regular departmental meetings.

  • Monitor staff productivity and performance.

  • Promote teamwork and accountability.

  • Ensure adequate staffing levels across all operational areas.

  • Assist department heads in workforce planning.

Guest Experience and Residents Services
  • Ensure exceptional front-office and guest service standards.

  • Oversee student arrivals, departures, and accommodation allocations.

  • Resolve resident concerns promptly and professionally.

  • Monitor resident satisfaction and implement continuous improvements.

  • Work closely with the Community Manager to enhance student engagement.

  • Support initiatives that improve student wellbeing and residential life.

Facilities and Property Operations
  • Coordinate with Maintenance and Housekeeping teams.

  • Ensure all facilities remain safe, clean, and operational.

  • Monitor preventive maintenance schedules.

  • Ensure compliance with fire safety and health & safety regulations.

  • Coordinate contractor visits and facility inspections.

  • Support sustainability and environmental initiatives.

Compliance and Governance
  • Ensure compliance with UK employment laws and health & safety regulations.

  • Implement APS Unipod operational policies and procedures.

  • Maintain operational documentation and records.

  • Participate in audits and compliance inspections.

  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are implemented where applicable.

Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Operations Management, Human Resource Management, Facilities Management, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 3 years of operational management experience.

  • Previous experience managing multidisciplinary teams.

  • Strong knowledge of HR administration and employment practices.

  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • High level of computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in student accommodation, hospitality, residential property, or hotel operations.

  • Knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practices.

  • Experience using property management systems or HRIS software.

  • First Aid or Health & Safety certification is desirable.
